CLASS INFO

Class G1
Hot Glass Basics

No prerequisites

Discover the essentials of a glassblowing studio: the glassblower's bench, tools, furnace, safety, and how to gather hot glass on an iron gathering rod.

To begin you’ll create at least one clear glass paperweight, and another with color/decoration. Then, you’ll really start blowing glass!

You’ll learn to blow a bubble--the foundation for blown glass—plus marvering and putting in a neck line. You’ll create a hand-blown ornament, and if time permits, another ornament with color/decoration.

Class G2
Crafting the Tumbler
Prerequisite: Class G1 or experience

Develop your skills by making more glass ornaments, then learn to create a tumbler. You’ll create drinking glasses, and work with hot bits and decoration.

Each student creates a tumbler or two of their choice and design. Imagine serving your friends beverages in glasses you made by hand!

Class G3
Hot Glass Lab
Prerequisite: Class G2 or experience

This is your chance to develop as a glassblower. A change from more structured classes, Hot Glass Lab is about building confidence through hands-on experience. We can put on some music, talk about ideas, and explore new forms as you develop your individual “voice” as a glass artist.

After repeating this lab a few times, you can take your skills to the next step—renting glassblowing studio time by yourself or with others to gain more experience and express your own vision in glass.
