Classes are open to all ages and skill levels. Discover the amazing art of glassblowing and unravel the mysteries of glass and fire. Create your own glass works, build your skills and deepen your understanding of the connection between material and process.
The teaching staff at Revolution Glass Studio is a network of expert glassblowers experienced at teaching a variety of glassblowing methods. Main instructor Josh Gelfand operates the fully equipped facility in El Segundo, CA. Students of all ages and experience levels gain working knowledge and experience of glassblowing through in-depth, hands-on instruction.
Classes are normally held on weekends from 9:00am to 4:00pm and include full materials, use of facility equipment and lunch. All courses and labs can be repeated in order to build glassblowing skills and confidence.

Discover the glassblowing studio: The tools, glassblower's bench, furnace, safety, and how to gather hot glass on an iron gathering rod. To begin, students create at least one clear glass paperweight, and another with color/decoration. They then start blowing glass using a blowpipe and learn basic glassblowing skills: Gathering, marvering, blowing a bubble (or parison, the foundation for blown glass) and putting in a neck line. One basic hand-blown ornament and another with color application will be created.

Develop your skills by making more glass ornaments, then learn to create a tumbler! Students create drinking glasses and other work with hot bits and decoration. Each student creates a tumbler or two for decoration or everyday use of their choice and design.
Prerequisites: Class G2 or basic experience
Hot Glass Lab is all about building confidence through hands-on experience in a loosely structured, open-floor setting. Students can put on music, discuss ideas and explore new forms of glassblowing as they continue to develop their individual style as a glass artist. After strengthening their skills as a glassblower in this lab a few times, they are invited to take their artistry to the next level - rent glassblowing studio time on one's own or with others to hone their craftsmanship and express their own visions in glass.
Protective Eyewear - Safety glasses work great and can be purchased from a hardware store, or can be provided during classes by Revolution Glass.
Full-Coverage Shoes - No sandals, flip-flops or open-toed footwear.
Cotton Clothing Only - No synthetic fabrics. It is optional to protect forearms from excess heat simply by wearing long sleeves. Arm protectors can also be made from cotton socks with the toe ends cut off.
Bottled Water - The studio provides water during classes and labs, but students are advised to hydrate during class as well as on their way home.
Sketchbook and Pen/Pencil - This is highly recommended for taking notes and developing ideas for personal projects.
Studio Liability Waiver - All students will need to sign a Liability Waiver provided by the studio before beginning work in the studio. If under 18, a parent/legal guardian must also sign.
